Classical music has never been this hip. The St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble is spending its spring season taking listeners on a “Magical History Tour” through the music of everyone from Purcell to Adams. The Ensemble will host four performances in the months of February and March, the last of which will culminate in an after party hosted by Encore Magazine.
The St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble concert on March 5, 2010 aims to do what few classical music performances can—connect a young audience with classical music. And with the festivities planned, that goal is sure to be fulfilled. The night begins with a concert at The Morgan Library and Museum at 7:30. Musical selections include two pieces by Purcell (instrumental selections from The Fairie Queen and Chaconne in G Minor) and then a jump forward to the 20th century with works by contemporary composer John Adams. After the “Magical History Tour” ends the real fun begins.
Encore readers are invited to a 45below Chill Out Party at CHADOS Sushi Lounge just around the corner from the Morgan Library. The exclusive event, for those music lovers under 45, will include music by Jazz duo Paul Meyers (guitar) and Gregg August (bass), a FREE drink and a variety of appetizers including the Magical History Tour sushi roll. Exclusively, Encore readers can purchase tickets to the 45below Chill Out Party for just $15. That’s a pretty hefty take for less than a tank of gas. Included in this one day pass are: one ticket to St. Luke’s Magical History Tour concert, all-day admission to The Morgan Library & Museum, a six-month membership to 45below, an exclusive invitation to the Chill Out at CHADOS after party featuring live Jazz and one FREE drink at CHADOS.
