Los Lobos are arguably the most decorated and successful Chicano band in existence today. The special blend of rock, Tex-Mex, Tejano and Chicano rock has made them a successful touring act for almost 30 years, and their music is about to come to a performing arts hall near you. David Hidalgo and Louie Perez (both founding members of the band) will play a one-time gig January 16, 2010 at 8 pm at the South Orange Performing Arts Center.
The performance at SOPAC will include a collection of Los Lobos’ most famous songs (“Shakin’ Shakin’ Shakes”, “Down on the Riverbed”,“ Reva’s House,” among many others) material that has toured with the likes of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. David Hidalgo and Louie Perez are also the principal songwriters of the group and will make the evening particularly special by engaging in a post-show audience discussion. The talk’s topics will include their take on the art of song writing, Los Lobos’ creative process and is sure to shine a unique light on the art of some of the music industry’s most dynamic artists.
