The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of musicians from the orchestra, will begin its 2010-11 season on October 10 at 3 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. This season’s program includes Dittersdorf’s “Duo in E-flat Major for Viola and Bass,” Reinecke’s “Sextet” and Dvořák’s “Quintet for Piano and Strings in A major, Op. 81.”

The point of the Philharmonic Ensembles, which has been around since 1984, is to present a diverse program of both “masterpieces and modern compositions,” according to a press release. It’s an intimate, unforgettable performance.

The incredibly talented Ensembles musicians are Michelle Kim and Hae-Young Ham, violin; Rebecca Young and Robert Rinehart, viola; Ru-Pei Yeh, cello; David J. Grossman, double bass; Mindy Kaufman, flute; Robert Botti, oboe; Pascual Martinez Forteza, clarinet; Kim Laskowski, bassoon; Philip Myers and R. Allen Spanjer, horn; and Eric Huebner, piano.

A six-concert subscription (a full schedule can be seen here) costs $144, while individual performances are $33. Subscriptions are currently available here, while individual tickets go on sale September 7. Please click here for more information.
