Originally, this post was going to be a complete listing of all the bands and albums Thurston Moore has performed with and on. He’s, of course, best known for his work with Sonic Youth, but Moore has also worked with the Coachmen (1988), Ciccone Youth (1988), Dim Stars (1991-1992), the Backbeat Band (1994), Male Slut (1995), Dapper (2001-2003), etc.

You get the idea: Moore’s one busy guy.

Once I got to about the 50th different album he contributed one track for (Just Another Asshole, Submit to Me Now…), I gave up and decided to leave the Complete Moore task to Discogs, who do an admirable job of compiling everything together.

So, instead, I’ll just tell you that Moore is playing tonight with White Out, a two-piece band who “experiment with new ways of manipulating sound, space and form, while extending an open invitation to other like-minded innovators to join them in their quest.” They routinely play with Jim O’Rourke and, yes, Mr. Moore.

White Out plays tonight, August 28, at the Knitting Factory. Tickets cost $10-$12 and can be purchased here. When you see Thurston, ask him if even he knows all the band he’s worked with. Hopefully he won’t forget Wylde Ratttz.
