The late night crowd has found themselves a new craving that comes in one of NYC’s ubiquitous trucks. No, it isn’t halal food and they don’t serve cupcakes, either. This one lures you in with the delicious smell of strawberries, chocolate and batter. What is this new phenomenon that’s taking over the streets? It’s the Belgian Wafels & Dinges (or waffles and toppings).

Everyone who passes by is stopped by the truck’s heavenly aroma, a sentence not often written. Then you hear, “What’s this?” and once they find out, “I got to get one of these.” Upon the first bite, you will feel a rush of happiness through your body. It’s that good.

But it feels like you’re doing something bad. Eating waffles with fresh strawberries topped with Nutella and whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup during the late hours of the night, oh the crime. It’s the best thing to snack on while barhopping.

They also offer more than just waffles, my friends. Your late night sweet tooth can be satisfied with vanilla ice cream topped with Belgian chocolate fudge and whipped cream. Patrons are not only charmed by this waffle truck stand with its fruity and sweet menu, but by their price tag. Everything on the menu costs under $6, so go ahead and indulge a little bit.

Wafels & Dinges have claimed themselves masters of their craft. Earlier this year, its founder, Thomas Degeest, won a “Throw Down” against celebrity chef Bobby Flay. Degeest totally schooled the seasoned chef on how to make decadent wafels and dinges.

Degeest has said that he plans to bring more of his beloved food truck to different NYC neighborhoods. So far, sightings have included St. Mark’s Place, Union Square and 46th between 5th and 6th. Did I mention they also serve Belgian cocoa?
