The Wall Street Journal’s Summer Scoops series, the sequence of talks held by Journal writers with various artists and performers, continues with August 4’s “Planet Hip Hop.” Held at the Lincoln Center, this talk will be conducted by Wall Street Journal culture editor Christopher John Farley and will feature a discussion exploring the globalization of hip-hop. In an era when hip-hop music and culture at large has reached the corners of third world countries and suburban America alike, a panel of successful and respected hip-hop moguls and artists will share their insights into how the globalization took place, what it means and what the future of hip-hop might look like. On hand for the panel are drummer and Grammy-winning artist from the group The Roots, Ahmir “?estlove” Thompson, Sierra Leone rapper Bajah, entertainment entrepreneur Steve Stoute, and legendary rapper/producer Chuck D of Public Enemy.
Bajah and his rap group The Dry Eye Crew will also be performing at the Hip Hop Generation Next event presented by Lincoln Center Out of Doors in collaboration with Dancing in the streets. The event will take place August 6 at Damrosch Park in Manhattan.
