The Lumet family is the stuff that movie-making royalty is made of. Sidney Lumet (12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon), who has been nominated for an Academy Award five times, is a prolific director and screenwriter whose work has gained critical praise and countless fans in a career that has spanned over fifty years. His daughter, Jenny Lumet, is an accomplished screenwriter whose last script, Rachel Getting Married became a critical darling.
The father/daughter duo is set to sit down with Wall Street Journal film critic Joe Morgenstern in an addition to the Journal’s ongoing series, “Summer Scoops: Live with the Wall Street Journal.” On July 21, “Movie Night With the Lumets” asks the pair about their own films and the movies that they love—and love to hate. The discussion is sure to touch upon Sidney’s often-explored themes of corruption and poverty as well as his favorite backdrop: New York City.
The talk will take place at the Lincoln Center on July 21. For more information on this and the rest of the Summer Scoops follow the Wall Street Journal Summer Scoops on Twitter at twitter.com/wsjlive or search “summer scoops live” on Facebook. Ticket information can be found at wsj.com/live.
