Joey DeFrancesco Performs “Blues For Bobby C”
The Joey DeFrancesco Trio is set to play a four-night stint at the Jazz Standard June 25-28. DeFrancesco, a former jazz child prodigy, got his big break at 17 playing in Miles Davis’ band. Since then he has built a formidable career leading his own band and playing jazz on the B-3 organ.
DeFrancesco’s tour heads to New York City for four shows and will include appearances by the renowned tenor saxophonist Jerry Wheldon for the first three nights. DeFrancesco’s finale will feature New York native and jazz guitarist Paul Bollenback and DeFrancesco staple Byron “Wookie” Landhamon on drums. For a technically magnificent yet creatively inspirational show, head down to Jazz Standard and catch a viewing of the man many call the best jazz organist in the business.
