Not able to get tickets for Rufus Wainwright’s Prospect Park show tomorrow night? Well, there’s someone else out there who’s just as good and is also performing this evening, at a much cheaper price.

Tonight, Spencer Day will take the stage for the second of three Monday night shows at Joe’s Pub. Like Wainwright or Michael Buble, Spencer is a singer/songwriter/pianist, a so-called “modern-day musical nomad.” His sound is closest to jazz, but there are also hints of musical theater, cabaret, soul, folk and pop in his performances.

Last year, Day, who looks like a mix of Dave Franco and Matthew Morrison, released his third album, Vagabond, which sounds more confident than on his previous records (Spencer Day and Movie of Your Life) and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. But don’t be surprised if he decides to improvise tonight. Day is a throwback with contemporary sensibilities.

Spencer Day will perform at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Joe’s Pub. Tickets cost $15 Advance/$20 Door and can be purchased here.
