The 9th Annual Russian Style Festival celebrates the culture of over 20% of the West Hollywood population

Walking along the streets of West Hollywood, one can easily assume that they are no longer in America. Bakeries smell of fresh bread and pastries, fruit and vegetable markets line the streets with cyrillic letters illuminated in their signs. The language itself echoes of Slavonic vowel sounds that are not easily recognized outside of this small oasis of culture.
This is the West Hollywood, “WeHo,” of the Russian-speaking community. By some counts, the Russian speakers number around 300,000 just in the Los Angeles metro area, making it one of the five largest Russian-speaking communities in the United States, and the largest one on the West Coast.
To celebrate this enormity and the contribution of this community to Los Angeles culture, the 9th Annual Russian Style Ferstival on April 17th will bring together families to experience the art, music, food and business of the West Hollywood Russian community.
The festival will become a part of the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Cityhood. The City of West Hollywood was founded in 1984 and the Russian speaking community has been a large part of it since its inception.
The festival is set to include performances by Russian dance groups, musicians and children, with food, arts and crafts and more available to the public throughout the whole day.
