If your relationship is a little different, more freaky, than everyone else’s or perhaps you need to someone’s destructive relationship on Valentine’s Day to make you look good. Or maybe you just want to spice it up a little…

Either way, whether you were shaking or nodding your head to any of those suggestions, coming to the Devil’s Night Drive-In on Valentine’s eve might just be up your alley. On Saturday, February 13, Devil’s Night Drive-In will be projecting Sid & Nancy (A Valentine’s Day Affair).

The film is a morbid biographical story of Sid Vicious, bassist with British punk group the Sex Pistols, and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. It depicts the mutually destructive, drug-and-sex filled relationship between them.

Gary Oldman plays the emaciated Vicious, having lost so much weight to portray him that he was actually hospitalized briefly. Chloe Webb plays Oldman’s counterpart Nancy Spungen, in a debut role that earned her a Best Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle.

When it came out in 1986, Ebert gave the gave Sid and Nancy four-out-of-four in his review for The Chicago Sun-Times and referred to the movie’s couple as “Punk Rock’s Romeo and Juliet.”

The film will be projected on a huge 24 x 18 foot screen on the roof of a parking garage and an FM transmitter allows the sound to go directly into your car. Food is provided by Angel City Derby Girl and guests are invited to drive, bike or walk.

Personally, this whole drive-in thing just makes me think of Rizzo and Kenickie in Grease, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Sid and Nancy might make for an evening that’s bit more punk and grunge than even a black T-Bird jacket with some hair grease.
