On Sunday, June 13, 10 young and talented musicians from Orange County, with ages ranging from 10 to 14, will perform at the Young Talents on Stage Fundraising Gala. The event is co-presented by non-profit organization Classical Music Encounters of Orange County (CME) and Teen-2-Teen [T2T] publication.
Classical Music Encounters of Orange County is a grass-roots non-profit organization. It was founded in 2000, for the Orange County community, in order to enrich the local musical life through monthly classical music concerts. The organization was founded by Inessa Khurgel, who is its artistic director. Khurgel has a master’s degree in Music and Music Education from the Minsk Music Academy (formerly Belarus State Conservatory). She currently teaches piano and musicology at her private studio in Irvine.
The other group involved in organizing the event is Teen-2-Teen, which is an International print and digital magazine, created by teens for teens. In the magazine, teens share their stories, talents, discuss business, scientific discoveries, politics, sports, culture and fashion. The publication is sponsored by the Mark Twain Academy of Scrapbooking Art (MTASA), a non-profit 501(c) organization founded in 2005 with a purpose of developing educational multidisciplinary programs, incorporating visual and performing arts to fight illiteracy and school drop-out among teens.
This event will showcase talent and promote the influence of art on children and teens. It will feature performances by many young and talented teenagers, including Benjamin Krasner, Jessie Wang, and Claire Dwyer.
Krasner, 10, is the youngest laureate in the International Young Musician Competition and was a first place winner in the concerto division of Oprah’s Search for the World’s Smartest and Most Talented Kids. Wang, 14, is also a first place winner, having triumphed at the Southwestern Youth Music Festival in the solo division and the South California Junior Bach Festival. Dwyer, 12, is a winner in the vocal department, having earned first place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition second place in the Professional Opera Singers Association competition.
The event will also feature an art exhibit by Ann Krasner, an internationally-renowned artist from the Los Angeles area.
