International super group plays Boston

Many know Simon Cowell as the snarky, self-important British judge on American Idol, but his crowning achievement may just be the operatic super group he formed in 2003. After hearing a recording by Andrea Bocelli, Cowell used his new found appreciation of classical music to fuel a worldwide search for members of a super group. The hunt for the members of Il Divo (Italian for male diva) took two years and resulted in its current lineup: Spanish opera and Spanish baritone, Carlos Marín; two classically trained tenors, Swiss Urs Bühler and American David Miller; and a French pop singer, Sébastien Izambard.
The group has sold millions of records and toured around the world, accumulating hoards of fans. On Friday, December 18th at 8:00 pm, the group will play a concert at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre for a one-time only performance that shouldn’t be missed. The concert will follow New York shows December 15–17 at the Beacon Theatre. Il Divo will perform favorites from The Christmas Collection, their immensely popular holiday release. After three successful albums, two sold-out world tours, and critical acclaim, Il Divo is back. This original and popular operatic quartet return with The Opera Orchestra of New York, bringing their holiday tour to Boston. They will be joined by Emmy and Tony-winning soprano Kristin Chenoweth and international star violinist Anne Akiko Meyers.
